6/8/2023 0 Comments Chuck dixon nightwingI left in the beginning and conclusion of the Bruce Wayne: Murderer/Fugitive storyline so the Nightwing comics during that time made sense. This is actually one of the best Nightwing issues he wrote, IMO. Superman/Nightwing team-ups are always fun, and Chuck writes them both perfectly here. Nightwing 23 is part of the “Brotherhood of the Fist” crossover & Nightwing 53 is part of the “Officer Down” crossover.Īction Comics 771 is where Nightwing (with Supes’ help) takes down Torque’s Intergang suppliers. This is where Blockbuster meets and takes in Grimm the gorilla, which plays a key role in the “Hunt for Oracle” crossover soon to follow. Volume 1:īatman Annual 23 is part of the JLApe annual crossover, but it’s basically a extended (and pretty fun!) Nightwing one-shot. Here’s a 3-volume map of his lengthy stint on Nightwing. Chuck sure did love writing about those Batboys. 6/7/2023 0 Comments Al franken rush limbaugh bookIndeed, it's been his bread and butter the past few years. With a psychedelic art style and anarchic vibe that would have fit right in with MTV’s Liquid Television in the 1990s, this feels like a throwback to an era when comics didn’t have to make sense to get passed appreciatively around a dorm room. The panels burst with monsters, mutants, dark gods, and anti-corporate rage. If the plots are frequently incoherent, it’s still an eye-popping pleasure to pore over Ba’s funky artwork, a wide-ranging blend of influences from graffiti, pop art, animation, and cartoonists including Kyle Baker, Evan Dorkin, and Paul Pope. Each chapter follows an inhabitant on a trippy, traumatic adventure one section takes the form of an action manga gone wrong, while another spins a dark fairy tale. That anticipation culminates this week with the publication of Monkey Meat, Ba's anthology mini-series for Image Comics that is a delightfully bonkers, gonzo satire. “This whole place is hell!” a “naïve, heartbroken child” warns, yet folks keep coming to the island, drawn by the false promises of capitalism run amok. Between following Juni Ba on Twitter and reading his 2021 West African fantasy graphic novel, Djeliya, I have been sufficiently hyped for the young cartoonist's next project. Ba ( Djeliya) plunges the reader into the frenetic dystopia of Monkey Meat Island, where the Monkey Meat Company exploits a mutated population to produce its signature canned monkey brains as well as hyped new products Soul Juice and the Potion of Living-Death. 6/7/2023 0 Comments Ngozi ukazu booksUkazu's manga-esque art is still bright, bold, and deeply expressive her ability to depict complex emotions in each panel remains impressive. Full of the same endearing charm and affable dysfunction as the first book, Check, Please!, this is a superb sequel. However, as Jack's team, the Falconers, reaches the Stanley Cup playoffs, the two must decide whether sharing their relationship would result in terrible publicity or exactly the honesty they need in their lives. Despite the excitement of dealing with new teammates, feuding over jam, and keeping up with the growing viewership of his vlog, Bitty struggles with having to keep Jack a secret, and he can't seem to find the words to tell his parents that his "best friend" is so much more than that. Gr 10 Up-Ukazu continues the saga of small-town Georgia boy Eric "Bitty" Bittle as he begins his junior year at Samwell University and strives to balance his studies with baking, hockey, and his new long-distance relationship with former teammate and current pro hockey player Jack Zimmerman. This wasn't easy, because Grundo has always been very proud. I found some clean rompers and persuaded Grundo to get into them. I got up and staggered through the bumping, rushing bus to the clothes lockers. I was only about five myself at the time, but I somehow realized that he was too miserable even to cry. He was so miserable that he had wet himself. I am Arianrhod Hyde, only I prefer people to call me Roddy, and I've looked after Grundo for years now, ever since Grundo was a small, pale, freckled boy in rompers, sitting completely silently in the back of the children's bus. So I decided to start with Grundo - and me. He was threatening me with half a page of crooked writing with words like inside turning up as sindie and story as otsyr.Īnything but that! I thought. Unless he thinks hard, he writes inside out and backward. If you didn't know Grundo, you'd think this was a generous offer, but it was a threat, really. I sat and stared at this sentence, until Grundo said, "If you can't do it, I will." I have been with the Court all my life, traveling with the King's Progress. 6/6/2023 0 Comments Mario testino in your faceThe full range of Testino’s photographic career is shown here, with no one style prevailing over another, creating provocative contrasts and contradictions.
